The third annual Triple Trail Challenge offers a
three-part stage race for the hard core trail
warrior! This event kicks off with the Jupiter
Peak Steeplechase on August 9, which takes
runners from the base of the Park City Ski Resort
(elevation: 7,000') to the (literally) breathtaking
top of Jupiter Peak (10,000') and back, on the
challenging single track trails found within the
Resort property. Total mileage: 16.
The second event is the Park City Half Marathon
two weeks later, on August 23. This new out-and-back
course design takes runners from the Newpark area at
Kimball Junction and follows the Swaner Nature
Reserve along quiet paved and smooth gravel bike
paths, to the turn around near the McPolin barn
depicted on the finisher t-shirts. Total mileage:
13.1
The third and final event is the Mid Mountain
Marathon on September 6, a spectacular
point-to-point course following the 8,000' contour
to minimize climbing, from the Deer Valley Ski
Resort north to the Canyons Ski Resort. In and out
of the shade, through wooded areas and across
streams, this trail is a scenic standout and a
fantastic finale to the Triple Trail Challenge.
Total mileage: 26.2 |
