WHAT’S NEW THIS YEAR?
Presents....
A NEW RACE! With the aim
of showcasing our beautiful area as a runner’s paradise (ok it’s a skier
Mecca too, but not in August)
we’ve added a rare Sunday race, and dubbed
it the “Sinner Six”…a 10k the morning
after the marathon/half marathon. This fun run sponsored by Maxwell’s
East Coast Eatery on the Plaza is a benefit for our NEW CHARITY
PARTNER! We’ve teamed up with the Falcon Flyers after school program
for elementary school aged kids, and will begin a running program in the
spring for the fifth graders. Proceeds from the
Sinner Six race go toward running shoes and clothing, and for a
part-time coach for these kids. A fundraiser for this program will be taking
place a Maxwell's on July 27 at 6PM. An all-you-can-eat pizza dinner $20 per
adult.
You won’t find a more beautiful and varied course anywhere in the country!
17 miles of wide gravel or paved bike paths; balance on quiet streets
Scenic vistas and wildlife, no “urban ugly” sections
8 mile mostly downhill finish
Loop course marathon and out-and-back half marathon—no shuttle!
These exuberant
kids are some of the "Falcon Flyers", local
fifth graders who have continued to run through the summer.
All proceeds from the Sinner Six go toward this valuable
program, and will enable us
to buy running shoes and clothing for them, and provide a
part-time coach. Watch for them on race day as they complete
the final mile of the marathon with their proud parents
cheering them on!
"I hope you can come out to the Park City Marathon next year. It is a wonderful race in a beautiful location.
Race support and organization are excellent. Personally, I love the fact that a good portion of the race is run on
hard pack dirt which really saves a beating on my legs." Dave Moore, Road Runners Club of America
“The Park City Marathon is a race any runner worth his shoe laces would be remiss to pass up” Dane Rauschenberg, Author of See Dane Run
The course was gorgeous - rolling hills and mountains surrounded us and a gorgeous altitude sunrise started the run.
Nearly all of the running was on trails and paved bike paths and the organizers did an excellent job supporting the course.
Aid stations were appropriately placed and every station after mile 10 had some nourishment in addition to the drinks. Dave Naffziger on August 24, 2008
